Stalling for time
fingers on the buttons
in a fugutive stake-out;
ready for what's coming.
Like funeral chit-chat,
small talk
slips
from preoccupied lips;
///////////////////////////////////
but
////////////////////////////////
when my mind has this
/////////////////////////////////
blip
///////////////////////////////
I can't talk
/////////////////////////
for
//////////////////////
shit.

This is my hundredth post. It's been a fallow time recently but hopefully inspiration will be just around the corner :)

ReplyDeletesuggestion...go sit somewhere and write what is going on....i use that to get what it going sometimes...i did it with my high school poets last week as well...we sat in the front courtyard and captured details until something broke...
congrats on 100...and here is to 100 more...
Ack...writer's block, the poet's nemesis! However, I think you already beat it. I like this write and I can totally relate to the frustration. Sometimes going for a walk and noting details can get me going. I like Bri's suggestion too.
ReplyDeleteI do think you have broke it as well. You sat down and WROTE a POEM......one we probably all can empathize with really. Don't expect more of yourself than that, and the rest will follow. Every poem will not be a masterpiece, but it WILL be something written....and if one in ten is a 'masterpiece' the nine others will have been worth the effort. Congrats on 100 posts!
ReplyDeleteYes writer's block is something I experience quite frequently. I think that the only cure is "time" :) as frustrating as that is at times.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 100th post!!
Oh David, I have missed you and your wit. (yes, it also rhymes with..) anyway, good to have you back.
ReplyDeleteIt happens.
