Daze of Christmas (Day 8): December tanka

blustery dusk sends
whistling, swooping, gusting birds
on freshening wings;
            eddies swirl and nestle down
bleak sleeping ground is waking.

  4. A beautifully vivid tanka. 'Bleak sleeping ground is waking' It sounds as if the birds have imparted some of their own life to the 'sleeping ground'.

  7. Your tanka is full of movement! I love the addition of sound qualities in the assonance, and -ing words. The whole creates an amazing image of the dusk of a mid-winter's day. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for sharing on Real Toads.
